The Bryan school board has chosen its sole finalist for Superintendent.
Dr. Thomas Wallis of Palestine was selected Monday. Wallis says he, his wife, and two children are excited about the opportunity.

With one exception, Wallis says there’s no downside moving from a district of 3,000 to a district of over 15,000 students.

The vote was 5-2. Trustee Doug Wunneburger voted no after saying the selection process was not open enough.
Wunneburger was interested in getting Bryan ISD employee input on the two candidates interviewed last week.

According to the Palestine district website, Wallis is finishing his third year in his first Superintendent’s position.
He has been in school administration since 1997, in the Mesquite, Rockwall, and Mabank districts.
The Bryan school board can take final action on hiring Wallis after 21 days.
