The Bryan ISD school board approved at their last meeting, the purchase of 11 new buses for more than $1 million.
Warren Lanphier, Director of Transportation, thanked the school board for recent aggressive purchasing, which he says has allowed BISD to implement a standard replacement cycle.
“We are 21 buses outside of our 15-year cycle. Four years ago we were probably around 60 buses outside that cycle, so over the last several years we’ve done a great job of playing catch up,” said Lanphier.
Lanphier says this has dramatically reduced the amount of emergency recoveries, and purchasing 10 to 12 buses each year will help maintain a 12 to 15 year replacement cycle.
