A Bryan High School instructional aide and part-time coach is on paid administrative leave after he was arrested Friday for striking a student.

Bryan ISD spokesman Brandon Webb says the incident took place Monday towards the end of the school day.

Webb says the 17 year old was struck a couple of times by hand in the shoulder and/or chest after he was moved out a classroom to calm down after becoming agitated from an undisclosed situation.

37 year old Donald Hamilton Jr. of College Station was arrested for assault resulting in bodily injury.

Webb says the student was checked out by medical staff then he was taken home by an administrator. The student returned to school later in the week.

Parallel investigations continue by the district and Bryan police.
