College Station’s Lincoln Avenue Reconstruction Is Starting Soon

More road construction starts in College Station is starting. The city council is told at its last meeting that barricades along Lincoln Avenue between Texas and Tarrow will be set up the week of June 17th. Once that section is finished, construction will start on Lincoln between Tarrow and University. Responding to council questions, capital projects director Jennifer Cain said there will be one lane traffic where motorists will deal with buses and trash trucks that will make frequent stops. What will be a narrower two lane street will include shared use paths, roundabouts at Nimitz and Munson and a right turn lane at University. The $12.2 million dollar project also replaces water, wastewater, and storm sewer lines. Weather permitting, completion is expected in early 2026. Brazos County Commissioners Approve A $5,000 Dollar A Month Raise For A Consultant

The consultant hired by Brazos County commissioners two years ago that led to voters approving a $100 million dollar bond issue for roads has received a contract extension. County judge Duane Peters responded to questions during this week’s meeting (June 11) about increasing consultant’s pay $10,000 to $15,000 dollars a month. Peters said before the bond issue vote, the consultant was working with TxDOT and cities about proposed projects. Peters said since TxDOT has moved forwarded on four projects and is considering others, the consultant’s workload has increased at least 50 percent. The contract extension, which was unanimously approved, continues through July 31, 2025. Texas A&M Police Increase Patrols Around Hensel Park

Texas A&M police (UPD) increases its presence around Hensel Park. An alert posted on UPD’s social media says an anonymous tip was received Wednesday night (June 12) through Brazos County Crime Stoppers that two men attempted to lure underage high school kids into the wooded area of Hensel Park. Officers did not find suspicious activity and anyone with information is asked to contact UPD. The alert also had a reminder to not go into secluded areas with someone you do not know and stay in populated and well lit areas.
