This week’s fire in the laundry room of the Brazos County jail could also happen at home. Bryan deputy fire marshal William Bouse says in addition to cleaning lint filters after every load, check the vent tube and keep that as straight as possible. Bouse also suggests looking for lint in the vent outside your house or apartment. And Bouse says the sheriff’s office is considering the installation of a second lint trap, after lint accumulated above a secured ceiling and ignited. Tuesday night’s fire resulted in no injuries and minor damage.
On another case, Bouse says investigators are still working to determine a cause of last week’s fatal mobile home fire. He also thanked the College Station police department for the use of x-ray equipment. One person died while six other adults and a juvenile were able to escape the trailer, located in the Mobiltown park south of Villa Maria and west of College.
