After almost 34 years with the department, Bryan fire chief Mike Donoho is retiring.
Donoho was an assistant chief with the department for 14 years before being named chief in 2002.
He has spent his entire career as a Bryan firefighter, and orginally planned to retire in a year. But Donoho and his wife decided now is the time.
Donoho says he’ll miss the people the most, not only at the department, but the entire city. He and his wife plan to move to the Texas Gulf Coast while he expands his opportunities to teach and consult.
Donoho’s last day is this Friday, coming after he notified city officials in November of his retirement. A reception is planned in Donoho’s honor Thursday, January 12 at 3 p.m. at Fire Station 1.
