A wife and husband working for a small business just outside of Bryan are accused of stealing $287,643 of company money and spending it on themselves.

Chief Deputy Jim Stewart of the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office says Shannon and Kelsey Lackey took advantage of an absentee businessowner during a two year period.

Stewart says more arrests are possible as they link purchases made by the Lackey’s from the money reported stolen.

The business owner provided detectives paperwork outlining multiple thefts that took place from February 2011 through March 2013.

The paperwork included copies of invoices, contracts, bank statements, credit card statements, transfer statements, drafts, and checks.

The Lackey’s are accused of using company money to pay for personal expenses, including $80,000 of landscaping, a $10,000 bed and other furniture, two all terrain vehicles, $5,000 of fireworks, a playhouse, a garage, weapons, school tuition, equipment rental, building rental, vacations, a generator, food, electronics, airline tickets, hotels, limousine service, clothing, tickets to San Antonio Spurs games, and unidentified payments to the Traditions Club of Bryan.

Stewart says a search warrant was executed at the Lackey’s suburban Bryan where much of the property was seized and is still being cataloged.

The Lackey’s are out of jail after posting bonds of $10,000 each.
