At their regular meeting Tuesday night the Bryan City Council will look at a pair of tax increment reinvestment zones, and vote on the next steps forward in settling the landfill lawsuit with College Station.
Click to hear WTAW’s Chris Clift talk with Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker:
The TIRZ in zone 22 refers to the action Council passed at their last meeting that is going to bring a development of about 40 acres near the Target area.
This is simply the second reading of the ordinance.
The zone 29 TIRZ is in the Health Science Center area, also known as the Bio-medical Corridor.
Council will also consider action regarding an extension of the HSC Parkway off of Traditions Drive connecting FNB Road to Highway 47.
On the regular agenda there are only two items, and they both deal with settling the landfill lawsuit with the City of College Station.
One item deals with the land ownership for the new landfill, and the other is establishing articles of incorporation to create a local government corporation to run the new facility.
Walker says the process seems to be moving forward as scheduled, and everything could be wrapped up by late March although a mid to late April date is probably more likely.
