Bryan Council Supports Green Space Area In Downtown North

The Bryan city council has given the Downtown Bryan Association (DBA) the green light to continue looking at turning city owned land at the north end of downtown into green space.

Three people explained how green space is more than just a lawn.

Developer Ryan Terry talked about what developed green spaces have meant in major metropolitan areas around the country.

Local architect Matthew Faulkner, who is a member of the DBA board, brought up four concepts, emphasizing green space on city owned land in the block bordered by Main, Bryan, 20th, and Pruitt.

The DBA Sandy Farris compared this to the investment the council made in the rest of downtown almost 20 years ago.

Four members of the council heard the presentation. Greg Owens and Mike Southerland said they wanted the DBA to continue pursuing the idea as requested by Farris.
