Bryan Council Receives Some Utility Rate Recommendations

The Bryan City Council has received its first recommendations for updating utility rates. Water Services Director Jayson Barfknecht says the base water rate would increase by five percent.

For a residential customer who uses 10,000 gallons, that’s an increase of $1.82 a month.

Residential customers who go over minimum consumption would pay more per gallon.

There would be no change in Bryan’s prices for sewer or trash service.

The city’s electric department did not say where rates might be next year. BTU has until Friday under council direction earlier this month to provide detailed financial information.
