A small change in a contract opened the door at the last Bryan city council meeting for two opponents of assisting developers of a hotel and conference center in the biocorridor.
The council, acting as the city’s commerce and development board, is selling land to The Traditions, which in turn will sell to those involved in the Atlas development….which councilman Rafael Pena noted are run by the same person.
City manager Kean Register says if the purchase price is less than the appraised value, the city can protest the sale from Traditions to Atlas.
The council approved the contract change on a five to two vote. Pena and Al Saenz voted no.
