Bryan Council Delays Two Requests

Decisions at Tuesday night’s Bryan city council meeting included two delays.

There was no vote on the request by councilmen Rafael Pena and Al Saenz to place three proposed changes to the city charter on the November election ballot. Ann Horton sought time to questions she asked of the city attorney.

The third proposed change to the charter would ban council members from including their elected position when endorsing another political candidate.

The council tabled indefinitely a request from the developer of the Park Hudson neighborhood. Homebuilder David Scamardo wants to build 30 to 40 townhomes off Pendleton Drive, backing Boonville Road.

For the $8 million dollar project, Scamardo is seeking $250,000 to help pay for infrastructure.

Scamardo wants to build townhomes homes priced in the $200,000’s.

A council majority wanted larger single family homes, something Scamardo said he could not guarantee.

There was no discussion following Greg Owens motion, which was passed unanimously.
