Bryan Council Considers P&Z Tattoo Recommendations

Tuesday’s Bryan City Council agenda includes first round consideration of allowing tattoo businesses in the downtown area.

It’s been a month since the planning and zoning commission endorsed the the option.

Scott Hickle was part of the subcommittee whose recommendations were unanimously endorsed.

Commissioner Prentiss Madison’s vote was based in part by the community support of the tattoo shop owner who wants to move to 26th and Sims.

The council has received more than 40 pages of letters supporting and opposing tattoo businesses in part of downtown if the P&Z commission approves a conditional use permit.

The changes also call for separating shops a minimum of one mile from each other and restrict floor space to between 3,000 and 5,000 square feet.
