The Bryan city council at its last meeting approved contracts to design two new drainage improvement projects targeted to stop repeated flooding of homes.
Public works director Jayson Barfknecht one contract addresses flooding off Burton Creek, affecting homes on Melba Circle and Willow Bend Drive.
The second contract will design new culverts at two locations crossing Still Creek and two crossings over the west fork of Still Creek. Those culverts are hoped to carry runoff from a one hundred year storm.
Dr. Barfknecht says construction of both projects could start in about a year.
