Bryan & College Station ISD Early Enrollment Numbers Meet Administrator Estimates

A month into the new school year, enrollment in the Bryan and College Station districts are in line with administration estimates.

Bryan superintendent Christie Whitbeck says district wide enrollment as of Monday was 16,100. That’s a drop of between 100 and 200, which is less than the budget estimate of losing 200 students.

College Station deputy superintendent Mike Martindale reported as of Thursday, there was a decrease of 106 students. The CSISD budget was built on a projected loss of 136 students.

As for the much discussed enrollment impact of a new K-8 charter school in College Station, Martindale says as of Thursday there has been a loss of 368 students. That includes a loss of 26 kindergarten students, a figure which Martindale says is difficult to track every year.

In Bryan, Dr. Whitbeck says they received transfer requests from 190 students, which is a number she expected for the opening of a new school.
