Bryan & College Station Councils Approve Bio-Medical Corridor Agreement

The Bryan and College Station City Councils have reached a joint agreement on the development of the westside bio-medical corridor.

After seven months of behind the scenes negotiations involving a third party lawyer, the deal became official Thursday afternoon when the councils gathered at the Brazos Valley Council of Governments office.

The combined vote was 12-1, with only Bryan councilman Mike Southerland voting against the issue.

The agreement covers sharing expenses and revenues on developing streets and utilites on almost 200 acres from the area of University and Wellborn to the new Health Science Center.

Most of the property is in the College Station city limits but owned by the Bryan Development Corporation.

College Station Mayor Nancy Berry says everyone involved is excited about the effort to recruit medical technology businesses with one set of rules.
