The Bryan city council agrees to submit an application to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to pay about one-fourth the cost of a proposed shared use path along Highway 47 between Villa Maria and the RELLIS campus.

If TxDOT selects the project, the city would have three years to complete the four mile, $10 million dollar path.

The council without discussion at its last meeting (June 4) unanimously approved committing $2.5 million dollars in bond financing and pay for any cost overruns.

If approved by TxDOT, this would connect to an existing shared use path along Villa Maria from Highway 47 to FM 2818.

A city map shows a proposed continuation of a shared use path on Villa Maria from 2818 to William Joel Bryan Parkway.

The map also shows the location of 12 current paths in Bryan.
