Bryan City Council Overturns Planning & Zoning Commission Denial

Along South College in Bryan, south of Villa Maria, another vacant lot once used for business will become multi-family housing.

That’s after the city council overturned a planning and zoning commission denial with a 6-0 vote to grant a conditional use permit on land behind Martin’s barbecue to build four structures containing 16-two bedroom units.

Developer J.C. Wall III of Temple went to the council after P&Z voted 5-2 against the permit.

Wall disagreed with the P&Z majority, which wanted the land to be used for business purposes.

After the P&Z meeting, the council was told Wall resolved issues with neighboring landowners.

The council’s approval is contingent on Wall meeting 11 conditions recommended by city staff.
