Another voluntary annexation request was approved during the last Bryan city council meeting. Without discussion, the council unanimously supported the proposal to expand Bryan to the northwest. The application involves land west of Harvey Mitchell Parkway and south of Sandy Point Road to build 856 new homes. This is the third annexation request from the Killeen based developer of the Pleasant Hill subdivision. In March 2008 and July 2019, land was annexed to build 839 homes and reserve space for retail and commercial development. Bryan’s planning and zoning commission was scheduled to hold a public hearing on June 3. The city council is scheduled to consider final action July 13.

The Bryan city council, without discussion at its last meeting, unanimously approved two rezoning requests. One of the two rezonings will build 55 new homes off Sandy Point Road across the highway from the Brazos County jail. The other is to allow the owner of a RV resort off the freeway and north of Highway 21 to add a restaurant at the corner of Colson Road and Clark’s Lane. There were no comments during public hearings held by the council and the planning and zoning commission, which recommended approval.
