Brenham Vet Is No Billed By An Austin County Grand Jury

A Brenham veterinarian who lost her job after posting a picture of a feral cat she killed by shooting her bow and arrow through its head has not committed a crime.

A news release from the Austin County District Attorney’s office stated a grand jury no-billed Kristen Lindsey after determining there was insufficient proof to charge her with animal cruelty.

The news release defines animal cruelty can take place in one of two ways. There was not enough evidence that the cat died in a cruel manner based on an online photo and guidelines from the American Veterinary Medical Association that animals can be humanely killed in the head when done correctly. The other definition of animal cruelty is when the the cat was killed without the owner’s consent, which investigators could not determine.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Lindsey’s veterinary license remains active according to the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Board’s website.
