Brazos Valley Lodging Association Asks Bryan City Council To Increase CVB Funding

Next year’s proposed Bryan city budget calls for no increase to outside agencies.

At this week’s council workshop, the convention and visitors bureau (CVB) asked for an additional $130,000 dollars in hotel occupancy tax money.

Supporters include Noel Mayes of the Brazos Valley Lodging Association, who says the supply of motel rooms is up 60 percent while demand increased less than three percent.

He says without the additional money, that puts hotel employees jobs in danger.

The council during its Tuesday night meeting gave first round approval on a 5-1 vote to next year’s proposed budget without any changes.
