Brazos County’s emergency management coordinator the last nine years is retiring.

County judge Duane Peters read a resolution during Tuesday’s meeting (June 25) recognizing Michele Bailey-Meade’s service.

According to the resolution, Meade’s 40 years in public safety positions began in the mid-1980’s as a volunteer in the precinct one fire department.

She was hired as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for Brazos County in November 1990, then moved to emergency management as deputy coordinator in March 2003.

Meade retires Friday (June 28) after serving as coordinator since June 2015.
