Public comments during Tuesday’s (September 17) Brazos County commission meeting included questions about a $135,000 dollar contract with the sheriff’s office regarding drones.

The county’s purchasing agent, Charles Wendt, and the commission’s general counsel, Bruce Erratt, says the contract is about detecting drones above the jail and not about the sheriff’s office flying drones.

Erratt also said the software is supposed to protect against drones collecting information about security measures being taken at the sheriff’s office and jail.
