The Brazos County tax office is still composing property tax statements.

Tax assessor-collector Kristy Roe says as of October 23rd, the data verification process for more than 147,000 accounts is underway.

Once the data is verified, then the statements will go to the printer.

Roe says at the earliest, the first of 120,000 statements will be in the mail by the end of this week (Friday, October 27).

Roe says before the data verification began, there were delays due to changes made by the legislature and in getting numbers from the appraisal district.

News release from Kristy Roe:

Over 120,000 property tax bills are in the process of being printed, stuffed and mailed to Brazos County property owners. Bills should show up in mailboxes around November 1st. For those who want information sooner, the 2023 tax bills should be available on the tax office website beginning Friday, October 27th and continue to load over approximately a 48 hour period.

Taxpayers who wish to receive notification of the availability of their data should go to the website and sign up for an e-Alert on their property. Once the new bills are populated, the individual will receive a text and/or email with a link directly to their records. The tax office website is found at www.brazostax.org. Payments can be submitted on the website by eCheck, credit/debit card, PayPal and PayPal Credit.

Full payment of a 2023 tax has a deadline of January 31, 2024. Taxpayers can make partial payments on the full amount of tax, but partial payments cannot be made on accounts where the taxpayer intends to participate in the half-payment option. To qualify for the half payment option, the taxes must be made in 2 equal payments. The first half payment deadline is on or before November 30, 2023, and the second half payment deadline is on or before June 30, 2024. Payment stubs with half and full payment amounts are included on the tax statement.

Information on payment options and fees can be found on the back of the tax statement. Also, the property tax information section of the website provides payment options offered, instructions for payment online, by phone, by mail, in person and drop box options.
