Friday marked the seventh year lawyers in Brazos County celebrated Atticus Finch, the lawyer depicted in Harper Lee’s novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

This year’s featured speaker was a recently retired member of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Judge Cathy Cochran, who has returned to private practice in Houston, referred to Finch in her message about having “empathy and the ability to see the world through the other guys eyes, standing in his shoes.”

Speakers also included Brazos County Court At Law Judge Jim Locke and the founders of the event, Bryan lawyers Shane Phelps and Phil Banks. They were among those wearing seersucker suits for the occasion.
