The Brazos County Expo recently released the results of an economic impact study.
A WTAW listener asking if the Expo is paying its way, General Manager Tom Quarles says the event revenue is within $200,000 dollars of meeting operating expenses.
Quarles says during the last fiscal year, event revenue generated about $750,000 dollars while operating expenses totaled $950,000.
Quarles says making up the difference is a combination of county property taxes and the county’s share of hotel bed tax money.
Helping close the gap was the first Brazos Valey Fair, which generated a net profit of $21,000 dollars.
