Turnout for Tuesday’s presidential primary election in Brazos County was two and a half times the number who voted four years ago.
Voter turnout was nearly 36 percent, or 34,062 of 95,300 registered voters in Brazos County. That’s compared to 14,704 in 2012.
11,962 people participated in early voting and 22,100 votes came from 26 voting centers.
Brazos County Clerk Karen McQueen says voters seemed to like going to any location, particularly Texas A&M students who chose to vote off-campus. She also says they will have more equipment for the general election in November.
