Brazos County does not use voter registration software from a company that is having financial troubles.
The Texas Tribune reports Votec corporation is asking for a 35 percent surcharge on top of the current fee paid by Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar, and other counties.
Brazos County elections administrator Trudy Hancock says they use the state’s voter registration system.
But she says it could impact Brazos County if Votec shuts down or their clients decide to switch to the state system.
Hancock says the speed of the state’s system could slow down for this November’s election depending on how many counties move from Votec.
