A Bryan man is going to prison for the second time for drunk driving. A plea agreement with the district attorney’s office shows 41 year old Robert Michael Ruiz admitted to DWI with three prior convictions. Ruiz, who was sentenced to seven years in prison, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit at .311 following a crash in Bryan in November of 2024. Online court records show in 2018, Ruiz was sentenced to two years after violating probation from his third DWI conviction which took place in 2013.
The 24th time a man who used to live in Bryan is booked into the Brazos County jail, it is to await a transfer to a state prison for the third time for illegal possession of a gun. A plea agreement between 43 year old Michael Thomas Ayala and the district attorney’s office includes a 17 year sentence for possessing two rifles and one shotgun in February 2023 as a convicted felon. During the same court appearance, Ayala and prosecutors entered a separate plea agreement where he admitted to drunk driving more than three years ago where his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit at .160. Online court records show Ayala previously served time for illegal possession of a gun that took place in 2006 and 2015.
