Brazos County Commissioners Split Vote Allowing Some Constables To Use Texas Workforce Commission Information To Track Down People

This week’s Brazos County commission meeting included a two to one vote to allow precinct one constables based in College Station to access Texas Workforce Commission records to find a variety of people. That includes those who have arrest warrants.

Commissioner Irma Cauley repeatedly objected to officers arresting people at their job, expecting they would be fired.

Cauley drew responses from precinct one deputy constable Robert Huet, deputy county attorney Ed Bull, and fellow commissioners Steve Aldrich and Sammy Catalena.

Aldrich told Cauley that people need to take care of their business before they are arrested.

Catalena said he expects officers approaching people at their job will be done as a last resort.

According to background information given to commissioners, precinct one constables will also use the computerized information to find defendants and witnesses in criminal cases and other needs as deemed necessary.

The annual cost of $1,500 dollars is being paid by the precinct one justice of the peace.
