Brazos County commissioners approve spending more money on demolishing the former Bryan ISD administration building.

According to county documents, the demolition contractor said the additional $8,200 dollars was to remove and dispose asbestos.

County judge Duane Peters says that raises the total of the demolition contract to $319,958 dollars.

The only public comment from the commission was from Nancy Berry. She said she was looking forward to the county’s redevelopment.

Earlier this year, commissioners expressed no opposition to a consultant’s proposed $61 million dollar project. That includes an office building, a skywalk over Texas Avenue connecting the new building with the courthouse, and a parking garage.
