Brazos County Commissioners See Examples Of Law Enforcement Rifle Resistant Vests

Brazos County commissioners were shown at a recent meeting, examples of rifle resistant body vests that will be used by the sheriff’s, constables, county attorney, and district attorney’s offices.

Sheriff Chris Kirk says the vests contain a ceramic plate, which is estimated to weigh ten to 12 pounds.

The sheriff says the vests won’t be worn on a regular basis, but they will be within an officer’s reach when they are needed.

The estimated $120,000 dollar cost for the 130 vests comes from a state grant.
