Brazos County Commissioners Hear From Chemical Mowing Opponents

Before Brazos County Commissioners approved a proclamation for Arbor Day during Tuesday’s meeting, they heard from homeowners who were critical of using chemicals to control weeds and shrubs along county roads.

County Judge Duane Peters, who previously announced suspending the practice, told the audience they’ll consider rescinding the contract as early as next week.

Below are comments from the four speakers at Tuesday’s commission meeting.

The state’s open meetings law did not allow commissioners to respond to the speakers because chemical mowing was not on Tuesday’s agenda.
