MPO director Dan Rudge says the funding request has also been made of the university, the cities of College Station and Bryan, and property owners along University.

Rudge says there are currently seven options to separate vehicles from pedestrians. One is favored by A&M, a different option is favored by the city of College Station, and another option is favored by the city of Bryan.

When asked if there can be a compromise, Rudge said the compromise is building a tunnel under University to separate pedestrians from vehicles. And the cost of doing that is more expensive than the $671 million dollar expansion of Rudder Freeway that started this month.
