Brazos County Commission Approves New Road South Of College Station

Brazos County commissioners are looking at relieving traffic congestion in all precincts.

County judge Duane Peters says two projects in next year’s budget will be south of College Station.

At Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners accepted a land donation to extend Mesa Verde to the Highway 6 overpass near Texas World Speedway.

Peters says that’s intended to reduce the load on Arrington Road south of William D. Fitch.

The county is also looking at extending Cherokee Street to the Highway 6 feeder road.

The extension of Mesa Verde is estimated to cost $1.2 million dollars. The county also estimated the cost of widening Arrington at $2 million, but that is not being considered in next year’s budget.
