Brazos County Commission Adopt Fiscal Year 2020 Budget And Tax Rate

The owner of a $100,000 dollar home in Brazos County will pay another $16 dollars in property taxes.

That’s the result of the budget and tax rate increase approved this week by county commissioners.

The only commissioner to speak before the 4-0 vote was Steve Aldrich.

Aldrich, who “reluctantly” made the motion to adopt the budget, talked about the impact of the new revenue cap imposed by state lawmakers on this year’s and future county budgets.

Aldrich said they should consider issuing bonds for future road projects, since that is not subject to the new revenue cap.
