Both Sides Sound Off on State Science Curriculum

AUSTIN (AP) _ The State Board of Education got an earful from experts and activists concerned about the way evolution is taught in public schools.

Dozens of people, including a six-member expert review panel, lined up to testify in Austin as the board considers new science curriculum standards for the next decade.

The proposal would drop language in the current curriculum that requires teachers to address “strengths and weaknesses” of scientific theory.
