Texarkana,Texas (July 25, 2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers started their seven game road trip with a 5-2 victory over the Texarkana Twins to earn their third victory in a row. Landon Miner and Shane McCarley would get the start for their respective ball clubs.
Thomas Jeffries would lead off the second inning with a single and would be driven in by a John Grimsley sacrifice fly to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead. Dalton Stark would score Ben Bailey and would come around to score after Jared Mang had a two out double to cap off a 3 run inning for the Bombers.
Kyle O’Keefe reached base with a one out double in the 3rd inning and would eventually come around to score to give the Bombers a 4-0 lead. The Twins would respond with a run of their own in the third when Kyle Bottger drove in Alex Rodriguez.
Thomas Jeffries would drive in O’Keefe in the 5th inning with a Sacrifice Fly to extend the Bombers lead to 5-1.
Michael Mokma would take the mound in the 6th inning in a sort of rehab appearance after feeling forearm tightness in his last start. Mokma would allow 1 run on two hits and would complete the 6th inning with a 5-2 lead.
Brandon Ivey would come on in the 7th inning looking to bounce back from his previous appearance. Ivey would pitch 2 shutout innings allowing only 2 hits before turning it over to Reid Morgan for the 9th inning.
Reid Morgan would walk Alex Rodriguez with one out but was able to force a groundball for Jared Mang to turn a 4-3 double play to end the game and secure the Bombers’ 28th win of the season.
Landon Miner would earn his second win of the season, going 5 innings allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits and striking out 2 batters. Reid Morgan would earn his second save of the season, shutting the door in the 9th inning to secure the 5-2 victory for the Bombers.
