Bryan-College Station, TX (August 9, 2013)-
The TCL playoffs may be knocking on the doorstep of the Bombers, but that doesn’t phase them.
After the Cane Cutters jumped out to a 1-0 lead, the Bombers came right back in the bottom half of the 1st and tied the game up on a Blake Kopetsky RBI single. The Bombers extended their lead in the 4th after G.R. Hinsley hit a solo homerun that almost hit the foul pole. The pitching duel continued until the 7th, where the Bombers put a downpour of runs on the Cane Cutters. The first runs in the 7th came on a Graham McIntyre 2 RBI single lined into left field. Hunter Melton then doubled to bring in another run for the Bombers. Two more runs came across for the Bombers after Hunter Hagler hit a shot that went right through the shortstops glove, rolling to the fence and extending the Bombers lead 7-1.
The Bombers again added more insurance in the 8th with a Graham McIntyre RBI single and a bases loaded walk to Herb Romero. Four more runs crossed the plate after the Cane Cutters had another meltdown. The Bombers wouldn’t look back as they took the game 13-4. Michael Walker got the nod on the mound giving up one run and striking out six in five innings pitched. Erik Polivka relieved Walker as he struck out two and gave up no runs in two innings worth of work. Caleb Hawkins and Andrew Hohn closed the game out both getting one inning of work in.
The Bombers will face the East Texas Pump Jacks on Saturday, Aug 10, 7:05 P.M. at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
