Bombers Duo Sweeps Player/Pitcher Of The Week Honors

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 27, 2015) – As the Brazos Valley Bombers move closer to the TCL Playoffs, two Bombers received weekly honors as the Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 21 to July 27.

Matt Hilston, an outfielder from the University of Texas-San Antonio, batted .538 on the week, and reached base safely in four of the five games the Bombers played in that time period to help propel him to TCL Player of the Week honors. Hilston scored three runs and drove in four more to increase his league-leading RBI total to 29. The two-time TCL All-Star had three multi-hit games during the week and his .296 batting average ranks among the league’s top-ten in that category.

On the mound, Darick Hall started against the Acadiana Cane Cutters, throwing seven shutout innings while only allowing five hits and retiring the final eleven batters he faced. The right-handed pitcher from Cochise Junior College walked only one batter and struck out eight in the stellar outing that earned him TCL Pitcher of the Week honors.

Hall, Hilston, and the rest of the Bombers will begin a two-game series on Tuesday night against the Victoria Generals. Tuesday will be Epic Extravaganza Night, thanks to Oldham Goodwin; as well as Trophy Tuesday where the Bombers honor local community members for their recent accomplishments. Wednesday night will be Strike Out Cancer Night, sponsored by St. Joseph’s Health System. Show your support by wearing pink to the ballgame on Wednesday night. Wednesday is also Weenie Wednesday, with 90 cent hot dogs to celebrate Citizen’s State Bank’s 90th Anniversary.
