The Bombers threatened right off the bat in the first, but unfortunately were not able to put any runs on the board. Come the third inning, right fielder Herb Romero led things off with a single followed by a walk for both designated hitter Horatio Correa and left fielder Brett Kauten. Hunter Melton then came to the plate with the bases loaded and received a walk to force in the runner on third, making the score 1-0. Catcher Jake Henson added another run to the board by hitting a sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 2-0. The scoring didn’t stop there as the fifth inning brought more excitement for the Bombers. Kauten earned a base on balls while Melton followed with a two-run home run, bringing his RBI total to three for the night and the score to 4-0. The Generals’ designated hitter David Piaz Jr. started off the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run making the score 4-1. That would be all the scoring for the night as the Bombers put a W in the win column to break the two game losing streak.
Logan Burch of Lubbock Christian University got the start tonight for the Bombers. He went seven innings, giving up six hits, one run, and striking out five. Nick Johnson, Caleb Hawkins and Jason Freeman all pitched an inning in relief while Freeman earned the save, making it his third of the season. The Bombers face the East Texas Pumpjacks on Saturday at American Momentum Bank ballpark at 7:05pm
