Bob Bellard forced to resign as Bryan Coach

Bryan High School head football coach Bob Bellard submitted his resignation from the Bryan ISD Wednesday, effective at the end of the school year.

Bellard confirmed to KZNE Radio’s Chip Howard that he was asked to step down from his job.

Bellard, who was hired in 2006 and just completed his sixth season as head football coach for the Vikings, had an overall record of  32-31 and 20-20 in district play.

Superintendent Tommy Wallis says applications will be accepted through roughly January 9th.

Dr. Wallis says a committee of district employees will review applications and will give him 3 to 4 candidates for further consideration.

The earliest Wallis expects to recommend a finalist to the board of trustees is the January 23rd meeting.

2011 – 4 wins/6 losses: 2-5 in District – no playoffs

2010 – 6 wins/5 losses: 4-3 in District – 1st round playoffs: lost to DeSoto

2009 – 5 wins/6 losses: 4-3 in District – 1st round playoffs: lost to DeSoto

2008 – 4 wins/5 losses: 2-5 in District – no playoffs /one game cancelled due to hurricane

2007 – 6 wins/5 losses: 4-2 in District – 1st round playoffs: lost to Stony Point

2006 – 7 wins/4 losses: 4-2 in District – 1st round playoffs: lost to Round Rock Westwood
