Blinn College trustees have approved what administrators describe as slight increases in tuition and fees for next year.
A combined increase in tuition and general fee rates by $6 dollars a credit hour for most students, generates almost $2.5 million dollars. $1.5 million will go towards a three percent pay raise for full time faculty and all staff.
Blinn’s trustees agreed to reduce the repairs and renovation budget by $2 million dollars, and agreed with the administration’s expectation that there will be 500 more students next year, which will generate another $2.6 million in revenue.
Background information given to the board also states Blinn has to make up $2.7 million dollars next year for not hitting this year’s enrollment numbers.
Other expenses includes $1.5 million for additional personnel that was not identified, and spending $316,000 dollars to start new soccer and softball teams at Blinn’s Brenham campus.
