Blinn College To Start Charging Bryan ISD For Dual Credit Classes At Bryan Collegiate High School

For the first time, Blinn College will be charging the Bryan school district for dual credit classes taken by students at Bryan Collegiate High School.

Bryan school board members had questions during a workshop discussion on Monday. But there was no opposition to a proposed four year agreement where a formal vote will be taken later this month on a four year contract.

The school district’s director of advanced academics, Christina Richardson, says Blinn is asking only for what they don’t recover in state aid.

Richardson says the charge will be phased in, with the district paying Blinn an estimated $60,000 dollars next year, growing to around $120,000 in three years.

Another change ends Collegiate students appealing academic probation and suspensions through Blinn.

And out of district students who are not children of Bryan ISD employees will no longer be able to enroll. But the few out of district students who are not children of BISD employees will be grandfathered.
