The Blinn College board of trustees has returned to full strength as two new members representing Washington County were appointed Monday during a special meeting.
Reverend Randy Wells of Brenham takes over for Richard Powell, who died in October.
Dan Gatewood of Brenham takes over for Stacy Aschenbeck, who resigned in September to spend more time with her family.
Blinn’s news release did not reveal how many candidates sought to fill either vacancy.
The terms to be served by Wells and Gatewood continue through May of 2021.

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees appointed two new members to its Board of Trustees during a special meeting held Monday.
The Rev. Randy Wells will represent Precinct 1 following the passing of Board Vice-Chair Richard Powell, and Dan Gatewood will represent Precinct 4 following the resignation of Trustee Stacy Aschenbeck, who resigned from the board to spend more time with her family. The newly appointed trustees will complete the unexpired terms that conclude in May 2021.

Wells is the Executive Director of Faith Mission, where his responsibilities include oversight of all programs and clinical services and supervision of program staff and university/college interns. He serves as administrator of the Washington County Health and Service Center, provides leadership for Brenham ISD’s SMART Kids program, is president of the Washington County Ministerial Association, and serves on several local boards. Wells holds a master’s degree in social work from Southern University at New Orleans.
Wells and his wife Nelda have two children and are active members at their church, St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church.
A 37-year veteran of the oil and gas industry, Gatewood served as a military policeman, infantry squad leader, and platoon sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976-1982, where he led training and peacekeeping missions in the Western Pacific, Middle East, and Asia regions. From 2001-2016, he served in the Texas State Guard, including roles as a senior adviser to the Texas Maritime Regiment commander and as Texas State Director for the Military Emergency Management Specialist Academy.
Gatewood is a member of the Institute for Supply Management Certification Committee and the Supply Chain Management Association, and previously served as Chair of the National Association of Purchasing Management Oklahoma City Professional Education Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science in information and decision sciences from Cameron University and a Master of Science in energy management from Oklahoma City University.
