Details are limited, but we received the following images from a WTAW listener on Thursday.
You can see officers carrying what looks like a hard-sided suitcase filled with what appear to be bags of drugs. You can later see those same bags stacked on the hood of one of Navasota PD’s vehicles.
This appears to have taken place in the parking lot of the Circle T Truck Stop on the Highway 6 Frontage Road at Highway 105 East.
The Bryan Police Department announced that applications are being accepted the the next Citizen Police Academy (CPA). The next academy begins on September 3, 2026. The 10-week CPA course meets on Thursdays from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the Bryan Police Department. Admission is open to anyone aged 18 or older, but must pass and background and screening process. Class size is limited to 25 persons. BPD says the goal of the academy is to educate citizens about the structure and activities of their police department. It’s not a “training” class, but an exciting “information” class. Get behind-the-scenes looks at how the Bryan Police Department works. The CPA program operates on the premise that informed and educated citizens will be more supportive of police officers and the department, and will be more productive within their own neighborhoods and communities. Topics covered include overviews of the BPD organization and structure, information on cadet recruiting and training, introductions to the various divisions of BPD and their responsibilities (such as Homicide, Traffic and Narcotics), plus hands-on workshops. Instructors are drawn from the Police Department staff, from officers currently assigned to specific BPD divisions, and from non-BPD law enforcement agencies. CPA class members are also given an opportunity to observe police patrol work through a Ride-Along experience with a patrol officer. Applications close August 17, 2026, at 5:00pm.
A man is behind bars after choking and beating his wife. Texas A&M Police were called to the Gardens Activity Center just after 3:00pm on Wednesday. Reports say they found the victim hiding in a bathroom with bruising and swelling on her face. She says she could not breathe as her husband had both hands around her neck. She was then hit her in the face. When police caught up with 45-year-old Mustafa Luay Kamil of Cypress, TX, he had redness on his knuckles and hands. He admitted to there being a “family disagreement,” but that it was not criminal. Kamil was taken to the Brazos County Jail and charged with Family Violence Assault – Impeding Breath or Circulation and Unlawful Restraint. He is being held on $35,000 bond.
Several local law enforcement agencies will be facing off this weekend for bragging rights and to help benefit a local charity. On Saturday, the Bryan PD, College Station PD, Texas A&M University Police, and the Brazos County Sheriffs Office will hit Row House in College Station for a 10K rowing competition. The Battle of the Badges will raise money for Scotty’s House. Teams will compete for: fastest 10K row most funds raised team spirit award Teams have so far raised $2,200 of their $8,000 goal — with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office leading the way.
