Blinn, A&M Continue Advising New Students to be Vaccinated

Officials at Blinn College and Texas A&M University are continuing a full court press, reminding new students for the upcoming summer and fall semesters to get vaccinated for bacterial meningitis.

Blinn Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Dennis Crowson knows from personal experience how the admission process is stopped until vaccination records are complete.

While vaccinations are not available on the Blinn campuses, it is at A&M according to Dr. Martha Dannenbaum, the Director of Student Health Services.

For A&M’s spring semester, Dr. Dannenbaum said 400 new students were blocked from finishing their enrollment process until they were vaccinated.

The campus officials also say the vaccination law applies to college students taking classes for the first time at a new school and any student returning after taking off as little as one semester.
