Expect traffic problems on Texas Avenue in Bryan Wednesday after a bizarre overnight accident.
Police say a freight driver making a delivery at the TxDOT offices left his semi parked on Texas Avenue about 2:30 a.m.
As the driver checked in at TxDOT, he noticed his 18-wheeler rolling away. The truck crossed Texas and crashed into a utility pole, taking out a main B-T-U transmission line.
No one was hurt, but all lanes of Texas Avenue will be closed at some point Wednesday while repairs are made. The closure will be approximately from Martin Luther King Drive to Texas 21.
BTU estimates damage at $10,000, and some residents may have power outages while repairs are made. It isn’t clear how long the repairs will take.
Police don’t know yet if the truck malfunctioned, or if the driver forgot to set the brake before leaving the vehicle.
