Brazos Valley Regional Health Care Provider HealthPoint Announces A New CEO

The College Station based regional non profit provider of health care services…HealthPoint…has a permanent chief executive. Mary Wauters is in her fifth year with the organization as part of a more than 20 year career in health care. Wauters was originally hired as a regional operations director and more recently was chief operating officer and interim CEO. HealthPoint, which was founded in 1972, has 11 clinics in eight counties. In 2025, HealthPoint served more than 47,000 patients across more than 150,000 visits. Patients make up more than 51 percent of the board that governs the provider. Wauters previously served as Interim CEO following the departure of former CEO Terri Sabella, RN, JD, PhD. Texas A&M’s New President Announces More Organizational Changes

More organizational changes at Texas A&M have been announced by new president Susan Ballabina. The May 27th message on Ballabina’s website includes A&M’s chief operating officer Peter Lange now being responsible for coordinating operations in Fort Worth, McAllen, and Washington D.C. Being moved from A&M’s operations responsibilities is information technology, which will now fall under the university’s business services department. Ballabina also says efforts at the health science center and Galveston campus continue to support operational alignment with the main campus. And the health science center is now the focus of a 60 day comprehensive review which Ballabina says is to find ways to elevate health related programs across the university. In late June, she will hold her first meeting with a newly formed senior leadership group. This includes her cabinet, A&M’s deans, affiliate CEO’s, chief operating officers at A&M’s remote locations, and the chairs of the university’s staff council and faculty advisory council.

Three Local Men Are Arrested In What Is Described As A “Large Scale” Cocaine Distribution Operation

Three local men described in Bryan police arrest reports as being large scale distributors in the Brazos County area are arrested. The BPD arrest reports say last Thursday (May 28), officers followed the men in a car and saw them sell drugs at ten locations. After that, police searched the car, two homes in Bryan and one in College Station. Officers found one pound of cocaine and smaller amounts of methamphetamine and THC extract. A BPD spokesman told WTAW News the estimated street value of the drugs was around $25,000 dollars. The arrest reports also say officers found more than $3,200 dollars in cash. A BPD news release added officers seized multiple guns, body armor, and other unidentified evidence of drug trafficking. 65 year old Dennis Earl Young of Bryan and 32 year old Arnold Martines of College Station are out of jail after posting bonds totaling $60,000 dollars. 31 year old Octavio Martinez-Marure remains held without bond on a warrant charging him with violating probation from a prior conviction of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Bonds on the new charges totals $60,000 dollars. BPD’s news release says they were assisted by the Brazos County sheriff’s office, College Station police, DPS, and the FBI.
