Those attending Monday night’s annual banquet of the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce heard an update of the public-private partnership bringing the development and production of pharmaceuticals to the biocorridor.
Texas A&M University System Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives Brett Giroir recapped the steps leading to last June’s announcement of a $285 million dollar federal grant and the authorization to receive an additional $2.5 billion.
Giroir also talked about Monday’s announcement of a $22.7 million workforce training grant given to TEES, the A&M Engineering Experiment Station, to supply 1,000 employees and perhaps more than 4,000 new workers in a variety of positions.
Giroir thanked Congressman Bill Flores (R-Bryan) for leading bi-partisan support that led to the initial grant, and more recently getting federal support to develop a vaccine for West Nile Virus.
